slow pitch jigging
i live in the midwest but fish the gulf 3-4 times a year so i didn't want to spend a fortune on a jigging set up. this rod did not disappoint on my first trip out over new years. lightweight but sensitive. i used 180g to 300g jigs with no problems.

Nice SPJ rod
Majority of these reviewers aren't aware of what type of rod they have and how to even fish it. This is a slow pitch jigging rod and, for the price I paid, it's a great deal. Components are decent and build quality ain't half bad either -- clean glue job, straight eyes and reel seat.Bought a ml & mh casting. Mounted reels onto both and proceeded to pull with roughly 10-12lbs of drag several times. NICE parabolic bend! Not sure if I want to take the boat out to 300ft+ to test them for rockfish right now so will wait until nearshore opens up next spring. If they perform well dropping 150g-200g jigs into the canyon then I'd reckon these may be the best deals going right now for budget SPJ rods. We'll see...

Not built for the reef!
Got the rod yesterday. Left the dock at 5am this morning. Shot out to a couple spots in close In 60-75 ft. 60gram jig. First 2 drops went good couple decent snapper. 3rd drop I got thumped and the rod snapped without hesitation. On the way out I was telling my buddy how I got a deal on this rod, and how beautiful it looked. I was super stoked about the purchase. Come to find out it had the shortest life of any rod I've EVER purchased. Might make a decent inshore rod, but has certainly not battle tested, and is not cut out for slow pitch jigging the reef. Especially when you never know what might wack that jig. In my case I never got to find out. As soon as it snapped my buddy grabbed the top half before I slid down beneath the water and that fish was back home in the rocks. Very disappointed in the integrity of this rod. Maybe there is too much focus on it being so light weight that they forgot that when your slow pitch jigging it's impossible to target a particular species, and with so many unknowns down there you have to build them able to withstand a decent fish when it decides to wack that jig. In this case I lost the fish, and my pride before the sun came up all the way. Totally unacceptable. I hope the spinning rod I also purchased holds up much better that this one did.

Came broken, but company was very responsive.
Bought 3 of these rods for slow jigging. One was broken in it's box (3 boxes). They are fragile, as these rods have to be very sensitive. What was annoying, is that even though rod was broken in the box (inside its soft foam cover, box was undamaged),upon return to Amazon, Amazon deducted $5 on refund for an item delivered unusable.Other than above, these rods are fine, but handle with care. Also, retrieve fish by pointing rod tip down at the water, not upright with a big bend, as many people usually do. Point down, use a strong reel to crank up your catch.

Great jigging rod!
I recently took this rod out on a charter here in Florida. I was really impressed with it. I purchased the medium heavy 6'6 rod. It was sensitive enough to detect small little nibbles and was strong enough to pull the Gag Grouper out of the rocks twice before I was able to land it. It handled the Grouper like a champ! Only thing that could be improved on is how they ship it loosely in a cardboard box but so far this rod is tough as nails!

Good product
Purchased this item and one more different model few days later. The seller cancelled my order only to find out the price went up highrer for the item I intended to purchase. The three starts rating is for the seller not for the product.
