while they're visually stunning and enhance role play in the sense that I can see a dwarf using the bronze dice or a elf using the gold blue/green dice. from a functional stand point the weight prevents them from being truly randomised without the use of a dice cup or tower.Thus as a result i'd say for a new player these are more of a ornamental item.

Lovely little set of dice that looks just like the picture. Little smaller than average but not too light, and the design looks good and is easy to read. My only gripe is that each die was individually bagged, which were all put in another bag, which was put in another bag along with the drawstring storage bag, which was all then put in an envelope.
