The kings once again
The media could not be loaded. They've done it again, the Sony's are once again the king of over ear headphones. These are what the XM5's should've been... and then some✅Excellent sound quality✅They fold✅Excellent ANC✅Excellent Transparency✅Smart listening modes that aren’t gimmicks✅Magnetic case✅Seamless transitioning between devicesThese really are phenomenal sounding. The sound is very balanced, coming from the DT 770 Pros, they feel similar, but with more bass (of course not wired-level quality, but as close as you’ll get with Bluetooth). The ANC is really good. It’s the first pair I’ve tried that actually blocks out voices. And with the transparency mode, you can hear everything around you clearly, which I love for wearing them out and about. The magnetic case is honestly genius. I’m not sure how no one thought of it sooner, it’s seamless and easy to use, and still stays shut without falling apart at the slightest pull. I'm sure this will become the new default for newer headphones. The app has become actually useable, and the new features such as the cinema and background listening modes really do change how they sound. The cinema mode gives it a more spacy feeling in the ear cups, it doesn't feel like the music is blasting in your ears, but more so that they're coming from speakers, and the background mode sounds like how music sounds when you go clothes shopping, its there and you don't really notice it, but when its not there you realise how much of a difference it makes. And these really do have seamless switching, I use these with my iPhone and my PC and they switch instantly, I have a pair of AirPods pro and they don't even switch between my iPhone and MacBook as seamless as these switch. It really is like magic.Cat approved.

Overall review.
Good quality. Sound is very good. About as comfortable as over ear headphones can get.

Enough improvements to justify upgrading from previous gen
Active noise cancelling and sound is amazing as expected, while it's not a massive jump up from xm5s in quality, I would personally get it for the 10 hour extra battery life alone, foldability is also a big plus.

Incredibly uncomfortable!
These are going straight back, I can’t wear them for more than a couple of hours at most before they become very painful (and I mean very painful) on my ears, the headband is so tight and the memory foam earpads do nothing whatsoever to mitigate the clamping force.

Worth the upgrade from XM4 but not sure about XM5
I got this to replace my WH-1000XM4.Pros: Much better sound quality than WH-1000XM4 (cleaner sound, good bass and better overall)The ambient sound/transparency mode is much better.I got the silver ones and they're easily the best looking headphones around right now.Cons: They're a bit on the pricier side. They fit fine but can sometimes slide off

Disappointed Upgrade – A Step Back from the XM3
I purchased the Sony WH-1000XM6 as an upgrade from my XM3s, expecting major improvements after three generations. Unfortunately, it’s been quite the opposite.Fit & Comfort:This was the first red flag. The new design feels noticeably less comfortable. The earcups apply too much pressure, making them uncomfortable to wear for more than 10 minutes without causing an ache. The XM3s, by comparison, were far more wearable for long periods.Sound Quality:This was the biggest let-down. I expected an improvement, but the sound is noticeably worse than the XM3. The bass becomes rattly and lacks depth, especially on bass-heavy tracks, and the treble and vocals are harsh and fatiguing. To make the sound bearable, I had to dive into the equaliser settings — not something you expect to do with a £400 flagship headset right out of the box.Design & Portability:The case is larger but oddly offers less room. Unlike the XM3 case, there's no extra space to fit small accessories or other items comfortably.Positives:The only real redeeming feature is the build quality. The finish is premium, the materials feel nice to the touch, and the midnight blue colour looks sleek. Conclusion:Sadly, this feels like a downgrade rather than an upgrade. Sony had an excellent product with the XM3 — the XM6 misses the mark in all the key areas that matter for a travel or daily-use headset. I expected better.
