Not good for puncturing pork skin to make crackling...
Take a lot of force to use and can be quite dangerous with thick cuts of meat b/c it can easily slip as you tenderize the edges. My goal was to penetrate pork skin but I found it impossible with this device. However it is good for tenderizing exposed meat. Would prefer a standard handheld blade tenderizer w/o the safety mechanism for my uses.

Works great, takes some effort to pierce all 56 blades into a tough cut of meat. Does tenderize and work as advertised.

Better than a mallet!
Hereford 56 Blade Stainless Steel Meat TenderizerManufactured by HerefordUsed to tenderize meat.Pros: Safety features prevent accidents, very sharp tenderizing blades, no splatters from pounding into meat.Cons: It takes some effort to clean, the springs are stiff so you have to really press hard to engage the blades.Would recommend to a friend? YesThis is unlike any meat tenderizer I’ve ever owned. I’ve used the mallets and hammers, both metal and wood—but, I got sick of cleaning up the splatter from the meat. Finally, I went back to tenderizing the way my mom and grandmother did it—with a sharp fork and a lot of stabbing. The Hereford 56 Blade Stainless Steel Meat Tenderizer is like having a handful of super sharp forks that pierce the meat quickly and easily. While it’s true that it takes a lot of pressure to engage the blades, I like that it’s useless while the safety lock is engaged. I don’t have to worry about a grandchild or one of nephews getting curious and being hurt. Badly. It does take a certain amount of effort to clean (the sharps are very close together); however, the effort is worth the results.I used it on a regular flank steak, which came out very flavorful and tender. Flank steak can be a bit tough, if not properly tenderized and cooked… Honestly, it was a breeze with the Hereford 56 Blade Stainless Steel Meat Tenderizer. The seasonings infiltrated the meat and cooking time was cut by about a third. Dinner tonight was a success! The manufacturer makes the following claims about their product:->Makes any cut of meat, venison, pork, veal, fish, lamb, chicken, steak and other meats.Verified. If it can tenderize flank steak, it can tenderize any kind of meat.->Stainless steel meat tenderizer.Verified. The blades are stainless steel.->56 bladesVerified. There are 56 blades.->Safety lock.Verified. There’s a safety lock and a holder for the bottom.->Dishwasher safe.I don’t own a dishwasher. But, I’m sure it’s safe.Overall, this is an excellent product. With the safety features and super sharp blades, you can’t top it. I love how the spices are absorbed into the meat and how moist and tender even well-done cuts come out. I would recommend this to anyone who struggles with making a great steak!I received this product in exchange for an HONEST review.
