Five African-American kids from the Midwest, managed by their father, vault to stardom with hit after hit. Nope, it's not the Jacksons-it's the Five Stairsteps! Here are 17 of their best: 11 hits plus B-sides including O-o-h Child; World of Fantasy; Come Back; Something's Missing; Baby Make Me Feel So Good; We Must Be in Love , and more.

Melodies...Messages...Memories...
I bought this *SPECIAL* Five Stairsteps CD, in *MEMORY* of Clarence Burke, Jr., who was the captivating, main lead singer of this fabulous group. Other talented siblings shared lead on some of their amazing hit songs also. The Five Stairsteps' sentimental ballads, still mesmerize & inspire me to reflect, reminisce and/or meditate. I am enchanted by their beautifully blended voices. The group's delightful finger~popping songs still entice me to sing~along, sway or dance. All of their songs, capture my attention...to tune in...listen, and deliberate poetically expressed messages. As a teenager in Chicago, I bought their Vinyl 45 Records, which I heard played on the Radio regularly. I played my favorite songs so often, that I memorized many of them. As a fan, I attended the Five Stairsteps fantastic live performances, at the famous Regal Theater in Chicago. I recommend this superb CD, to anyone who enjoys elegant harmony & love songs, as: "You waited Too Long" & "World Of Fantasy" & the list goes on...and/or enjoy upbeat toe-tapping songs as: "Don't Waste Your Time" & "Something Is Missing" & so on... The classic "O-o-h Child" makes me ~~~WONDER~~~Are things "gonna" get easier or brighter right now.....??? (***Much Success***for Kenneth Burke, & other family members who remain in the Entertainment Business!)

Worth Having if You Love The Five Stairsteps!
I love the Five Stairsteps! I wish that they were recognized as much as The Jackson 5 were. They were so talented and are so underrated. The only song that many people know by them is 'Ooh Child'. I received the Five Stairsteps CD in the mail on July 6th and 7th. It came in the mail fast after I had ordered it! I enjoy hearing their other music that I had never heard before! :-)

Poor Sound Does It In
A couple of things. There are a few great songs, and many that start to sound the same. It's hard to listen all the way through. But the big problem here is the horrid sound. It's tinny, harsh, and thin, making it more hard to listen to. Was it recorded this way, or just the mastering?. Either way, I can't really recommend this, at least for high-fidelity audio systems.

Don't wait too long...
This collection is fantastic, The Five Stairsteps were so very talented and this CD has assembled their recordings from their different labels and put them all in one package.Seventeen cuts and not a clinker in the bunch. "Danger! She's A Stranger", is a personal fave of mine. And then there's, "World of Fantasy" and "O-O-O Child". I recently purchased the Cameo Parkway Collection and they have a few selections from The Stairsteps and I remembered how much I liked them so I, 1 Clicked ,"The First Family of Soul: The Five Stairsteps" and I am very happy I did-hey, they're on my IPod right now!

Great Old Memories
Really enjoyed this Five Stairsteps CD. One day "O-O-H Child" stuck in my head from back when and I had to find out who did it. The Five Stairsteps wasn't a group I remembered but their sound sure was. "Oooh Baby Baby" is another of their big hits that I remembered and enjoyed. There's a lot of great music on "First Family of Soul" but the CD is worth having for the two hits alone. The sound quality is good, but O-O-H Child is a little over processed.

Excellent Harmony
Excellent harmony is in every song you hear from the Five Stairsteps even when I saw them in person at the Uptown theater in Philadelphia they gave a real good show. I loved all their songs written mostly by the late Curtis Mayfield. I am enjoyed singing along with their songs in my car as I drive.

Hidden Soul Gem
This is a really great album and pretty amazed I’d never heard of them before - especially given link to Curtis Mayfield. Bought it after hearing Ooh Child on Lauren Laverne and have been playing through Christmas. Probably got lost in shadow of Jackson 5 but their sound is a bit less obvious - helped by having a female vocalist in there.
