Reception better than my Eton mini
It is a gemI read reviews from other buyers I could say that this very radio is a gem. Reception better than my Eton mini, the loudspeaker is crystal. l simply Love this more than the sony ICF-P36 that came with it. Both the Sony and lloytron are better in reception than my Eton mini. The only thing I ve to put on with lloytron is that antenna can not be rotated. It is a little good something.

LW for Radio 4 lovers
I bought this as a replacement for the equivalent Roberts pocket radio with LW (for Radio 4). Sony no longer makes a small radio with LW. The Roberts had done many years service in the bathroom, but the volume dial had become distorted with the moist air. No doubt, the build quality of the Roberts is better, but at a fraction of the price, and for talk radio, the Lloytron performs fine. It has a brighter sound, yet this is OK for speech. And the longer tuning scale is perhaps better than the Roberts. Unlike the Roberts, there is no tuning or battery light, and it's too soon to comment on battery performance (hence 4 stars). The aerial was very stiff out the box, due to an over-tightened screw. This was easily remedied with a small Philips screwdriver, and Radio 2 and 3 work well with the aerial up. Will it last as long as the excellent Roberts? At this price, it's worth a gamble.PS. After a month's use, the battery life (2 x AA) clearly is not as good as the Roberts. Perhaps about half. Or less. So use rechargeable batteries, or you'll pay more in the long run. And the on-volume dial is too stiff for wet fingers. Demoted to 3 stars, but it still does the job.

Cheap and not so cheerful .
Sometimes you spend little and feel that your purchase was good value for the outlay . Disappointed on this occasion . Needed a cheap knockabout radio for the garden but I don't think this cheap flimsy thing will last long . The speaker grille pushed in and stayed dented with one finger . Sound quality and reception very average . Volume at loudest just to hear it and on LW barely audible . Crudely made overall , battery flap fiddly . Robust it is not.

Nice device, cheap and chearful
A good product for occassional use, and only uses batteries no external power source, but doesn't matter. The FM function doesn't allow for stereo reception whilst using headphones. The manufacturer doesn't provide a 1 year warranty but instead suggests that you should claim a refund from your reseller, which sucks!!!If you want best quality and for prolonged use, probably best to buy a better quality product!

One for long wave requirements
Very few bother now in the old 3 band market fm/mw/lw , that alone makes this useful especially for any test match special fans but it's cheap and cheerful at best - though I would note surprsingly good fm reception from it to it's credit....dials (volume and tuning) are stiff and fragile feeling but at this price if you need long wave it will fill the void at least.

Handy Little Radio
It feels like the battery life is a bit shorter than earlier devices which this radio was bought to replace. There is a short delay before the sound comes on which needed getting used to , but otherwise a good general purpose radio .
