Fresh tomatoes ripened under the sun, cut in delicious chunks and packaged on location to bring to the table an inimitable taste. An excellent ingredient to exalt the taste of Pasta Sauces and any recipe. Chopped tomatoes are perfect for recipes that call for diced tomatos!

The best packaged chopped tomatoes. Period.
100% tomatoesNo salt/sodiumNo sugarNo preservativesNo chemicals in packaging. You want tomatoes? You get tomatoes with Pomi. And nothing BUT tomatoes. I use these for lots of recipes, but my favorite quick dinner is to take half a package of the Pomi chopped tomatoes, mix in a little Italian seasoning, then dump over 2 chicken breasts. Top with some chopped Spanish olives, then bake until the chicken is done.If you HAVE to watch sodium in your diet for health reasons, then you really need to look at those "low sodium" canned tomatoes versus the Pomi - you'll quickly realize that the canners of American tomatoes have a very different take on "low sodium" to Pomi's Italian approach! (HINT: almost zero sodium in Pomi - why don't you save your daily sodium allowance for something else because you can cook all your favorite recipes using tomatoes without any added sodium with Pomi).

That's nearly eighty bucks in the garbage!
We have been noticing that the tomatoes are oxidizing each time we open a container. The expiration date is not for another few months and we have to throw away an entire case of each of the strained and the chopped ones because they have come to the point where they taste VERY acidic and almost smoked. That's nearly eighty bucks in the garbage!

Watch out for the price on this one folks...and take note of per box size too!
This product definitely gets 5 stars...delicious, fresh, and bright flavor. The size is a bit off for standard recipes, so if you are looking for a precise and easy measurement right out f the box, then just note that you will either have to skimp a bit on recipes that call for the 28 oz...(these are smaller), or open up two and save them for later....but then you have to use them up pretty quick. Or freeze them. I never have but imagine they would freeze beautifully, as tomatoes generally do. Most recipes call for either the 28oz or 15.5 oz can, and these are neither. Be ready to estimate and adjust as necessary. So totally worth it, and if you are like me and are mostly using this to add to soups or make pots of sauce, then it really doesn't matter. One big thing to watch for here is the price. While buying in bulk is usually a good deal, and certainly getting the case delivered to my door is super convenient, I find that the price per case here fluctuates quite a bit. It is true that most prices on Amazon go up and down, but these seem to swing more than other products. I tend to keep them in my cart, and wait until the price goes down to the low 30's, which seems fair. But watch out they are as high as 50 something at times, so beware! The first time I went to reorder them I almost ordered blindly without checking the price again and would have paid way too much! This can be frustrating when you run out and need them and have to wait for the good price, so I recommend planning ahead and stocking up when it's cheap. Even at the lower price, the cost is still higher than what my sister pays for these at her local grocer. But I live in the sticks, and this product does not exist within a 300 mile radius of my house, and so I am at the mercy of Amazon on this one. I am thrilled and grateful that they carry it, just wish they could secure the price a bit more.

10-Star product
I've been using this brand for a few yrs, so glad I discovered it. I'm Italian-American so sauce is running through my veins, it's a very important food product to me. I love the ingredient label, one word, TOMATOES! It is so fresh, and the color so 'real' for lack of a better word. I love the chopped variety over their strained and pizza sauce, this one is truly my very fave. I love making shellfish cioppino with this, you need a fresh, marinara-type sauce for that, a sauce that isn't cooked that long and tastes fresh like you just cut up some ripe tomatoes. I sometimes add a pinch of sugar to it; as with most tomatoes, this is a little trick that enhances the natural sweetness, the way salt enhances foods. The current price of about $3.55 a container is a bit higher than I saw in my store just yesterday, about $2.79 there, but there are only a few bc they get snatched up so quickly. This 12-pack assures me a supply. I don't mind spending a little more for something that I enjoy very much and is of superior quality.Unlike another reviewer, I have no complaint on the delivery. I am a PRIME member and got it exactly 2 days later ordering it, on time and punctual. The expiration date is Feb of 2016 (today is March 2014)...so all in all, I am pleased. If you have a chance to pick up and sample one container of this at your local market, you can test it out yourself. You may end up buying the 12-pack too. I had bought a 12-pack from an online store once, and with discounts and shipping, it still cost about what Amazon is charging now, about $42 for a 12-pack.All in all, as good as any higher-priced San Marzano can of tomatoes, and this is from Italy as well, contains no citric acid where basically all other canned tomatoes do. You be the judge, that's the final word. WOrth a try.

ZERO % sodium, yay! Better deal than local stores.
These taste great. However what I love the MOST is thefact that the ingredients are "tomatoes"YEAH!!!! THat's how food should be, especially the basics. Simple, pure, uncluttered with preservatives and un-needed additives or colouring. The sodium in the canned tomatoes I was purchasing before switching to these Pomi tomatoes was scary. Something like 14% per serving. Which isn't a big deal but not as lovely as PURE tomoatoes with ZERO percent sodium. Meaning I can cook more freely and use the salt that I want.Really cool. I am so glad I found these.I actually purchased them in my local grocery store the first time and then of course meandered over to Amazon to buy in bulk where they're a much MUCH better deal than in store here. Also like that the packaging is BPA free....It's weird isn't it that we are at a point in time when we have to monitor food from all these non-food extras...food should be food...grrr...anyways...Next best thing to fresh tomatoes. :)
